How To Fit Exercise Into Your Busy Day When Working From Home

We all know it. Exercise is vital for our health and well-being especially now that we’re working from home and are often trapped in the daily grind of meeting deadlines and finishing projects.

We know that exercise will enhance overall health, allow us to sleep better, increase our energy levels, and even increase our happiness levels. However, some of us still choose to put exercise on the shelf, and sometimes we don’t even notice.

There is no point in setting a goal to be healthier if you don’t take the required steps to work towards the goal. As business owners, consistent exercise can help us with the energy and productivity we require throughout a busy day.

Given that time is a massive hurdle, here are some ways you can fit regular exercise into your busy schedule.

1. Schedule Exercise In

Just like other important arrangements, create a place in your calendar for exercise. It is good to create a list of daily tasks that you have to complete alongside your business tasks. Exercise, be it a walk, run, at home HIIT session or yoga, should be scheduled in at least three times a week.

Just telling yourself you will exercise is not enough. You genuinely have to plan out when and where your exercise will occur in order to stick to the plan. See it as another task for your business. You wouldn’t say that you don’t have the time for a meeting or to work on a project, and exercise should fall under this category of must-dos.

2. Find Time In The Morning

One of the ultimate ways to fit exercise into your daily schedule is to get it out of the way in the morning. If you get up early, create a habit of adding fitness to your morning routine.

You might even want to get up slightly earlier if you know you have a busy day ahead. Knowing you completed a workout when you have a big day ahead is a great feeling, and one you want to become accustomed with.  Plus research tells us that exercise has physical and mental health benefits.

3. Jog On Your Break

One of the joys of being self-employed or being in this new era of working from home (for the short term) is the ability to control when you work and what you do with your spare time. You can utilise this to your advantage when it comes to exercise.

Fit in some time for exercise when you have a break. Even if it is a short break, you can go for a 10 minute walk to keep the blood moving. If you need to run an errand in your vicinity, try walking or riding instead of driving – this way you’ll also save money on unnecessary parking and petrol.

4. Make It Social, Wholesome Fun

Business owners need a social life in order to stay grounded. A great way to socialise when running a business is, of course, taking part in healthy activities. You can go for a run with a friend keeping your distance, you can jump online and workout with friends via skype, houseparty or any one of the apps out their to connect us during this time.  Your gym is probably also running online classes for you, so check that out as well.

5. Enjoy Your Workout

Regardless of how busy you are running a business, raising kids and now working from home, one of the worst things you can tell yourself is that you don’t have time to exercise. At the end of the day, your health and happiness come first, and exercise is one of the main pillars of these two elements.  Exercise is for you, find something you like and do your best.  The only workout we regret, is the one we didn’t do.

Ensure you schedule in a little healthy exercise to your daily routine and you will see increased health, happiness and productivity.
